London, 31 January. Dr. José Ramón Cabañas, director of the International Policy Research Centre (CIPI) gave a talk today at London’s UCL about his book Anuncios del 17 de diciembre de 2014 en La Habana y Washington D. C. Antecedentes y proceso negociador posterior. (The 17 December 2014 Announcements in Havana and Washington, DC. Background and subsequent negotiating process) The presentation took place as part of the Caribbean seminar series hosted by UCL’s Institute of the Americas, a leading multidisciplinary specialist institution for the study of Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States.
In a panel moderated by Dr. Emily Morris and Dr. Kate Quinn, the Cuban scholar and diplomat explained the circumstances leading to such announcements and addressed Cuba-US relations. He answered questions from the audience which included students of political science and history, lecturers and researchers of the UCL and SOAS and members of the Cuban Solidarity Campaign.
Dr. Cabañas is visiting London as he was invited to speak at the event International perspectives on apartheid and decolonization in Palestine.
