MAKE CUBAN MEDICAL BRIGADE IN DOMINICA SCIENTIFIC DAY

Roseau, Dominica, May 12, 2019. The Scientific Day of the Health Collaborators Brigade in Dominica was held on May 11, 2019, in a theater in the center of the capital of Dominica. For the first time this event is held in english language, to facilitate the participation of professionals of other nationalities.

The event was attended by the 56 members of the Brigade, headed by their leader, Dr. Isolina López Cardoso. As guests were present the Ambassador of Cuba in this country, Ulises Arranz Fernández, the Ambassador of Venezuela, José Durabio Moros, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Assistance of Dominica, Letitia Lestrade-Wyke, other representatives of the Embassy of Cuba and from Venezuela and health professionals from Dominica, China and Canada.

During the day, 23 research papers were presented, 8 during the oral presentation session and the rest in the session corresponding to the posters. In all cases, the results of the investigations were presented by their authors and include the experiences accumulated in the work of attention to the Dominican population. Several of the investigative teams were made up not only of cuban health professionals but also of Dominica and China, since they work together with our doctors and nurses.

In his final words, the Ambassador of Cuba congratulated all the members of the brigade for the results of the Scientific Day and for the effort made to fully develop it in the english language. He said that the memory left in the minds and hearts of all Dominicans for the human work they do, now joins a scientific bibliography of easy access for health professionals in Dominica. He concluded by highlighting the pride felt by all the people of Cuba for the work they do here, whose results in 2018 were 28 269 medical consultations, 500 emergency services and 70 lives saved, 849 surgical interventions, 18 579 nursing actions, 22 350 diagnostic means and 492 repaired medical equipment.
