Meeting with health professionals from the Medical Brigade of San Fernando

Port of Spain, April 26, 2024. The designated ambassador, Gustavo Véliz Olivares held a working meeting with health professionals working in the San Fernando region. The exchange allowed the evaluation of the results of the work carried out by the Brigade, the new incorporation of professionals to the country who will provide oncological services in that area, as well as the existing epidemiological situation in Trinidad and Tobago.

The meeting was also chaired by Dr. Orlando L. Díaz Gómez, head of the Medical Mission in the country; Julio Cabada Ferrera, commercial counselor of the Cuban Embassy; Lic. Edisvany León Torres, coordinator of the San Fernando region, who shared their opinions and indications on the various topics addressed.

Medical collaboration began in Trinidad and Tobago through an Intergovernmental Agreement between both countries on July 20, 2003. The first group that participated in this solidarity initiative was made up of 30 nurses and 6 doctors who were distributed in the health systems of the different regions of the country, a practice that continues today.
