Meeting held with the Chancellor of Trinidad and Tobago

Port of Spain, February 11th, 2025. Yesterday afternoon, the Cuban Ambassador, Gustavo Véliz Olivares, held a meeting with the Honorable Senator Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM Affairs, and Reita Toussaint, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The cordial exchange provided an opportunity to share a brief update on the coercive measures imposed by the new U.S. administration against Cuba. Both parties expressed their willingness to expand bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation in other areas, such as migration.

The Minister reaffirmed his solidarity with people of Cuba in the face of the worsening economic situation. The Cuban Ambassador expressed gratitude for the position of the government of Trinidad and Tobago in calling for an end to the blockade and Cuba’s removal from the List of State Sponsors of Terrorism in all international forums.
