Meetings in Cuba to Boost Links among Caribbean States

Havana, Mar 7 (Prensa Latina) The meetings of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which will be held soon in this capital, will allow tightening relations and boost cooperation among the regional countries.
According to Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, these meetings will be spaces to analyze the opportunities for collaboration, foster competitiveness among the economies of the member countries of those blocs and discuss the common challenges to consolidate shared development.

They will be also opportunities to seek ways to face to external factors that threaten the sovereignty of those countries, promote actions to face measures for mass deportation of immigrants and their serious implications for the regional economies.

The First ACS Conference on Cooperation, which will begin tomorrow with participation of 110 representatives for members countries, observers and others that are cooperating with development projects, as well as international authorities, will be focused on issues as facing climate change, transportation and connectivity.

In this meeting, they will present projects related to preservation of sandy coasts and coral reefs, as well as the program Uniting the Caribbean by Air and Sea, which includes three projects.

Other aspects to be dealt with are creating capacities for controlling the arrival of gulfweeds and invasive exotic species.

The 22nd Ordinary Meeting of the Minister Council of the Association, scheduled for March 10, will be attended by 22 ministers, mostly foreign ministers.
