Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Emancipation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Receives Ambassador of Cuba

The Hague, 28 May 2018. The Ambassador of Cuba in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Mrs Soraya Álvarez Núñez met this morning with the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Emancipation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands H.E. Mrs Ingrid van Engelshoven.

The Ambassador stressed that in Cuba there is an advanced legal framework and Goverment policies that efficiently contribute to the economic and social development of the nation for which the country has gained recognition for the standards achieved in the last 60 years.
 

The diplomat acknowledged the Netherland's newest experiences in the areas of culture, education and emancipation, which it shares with other countries and in which Cuba and the Netherlands could promote collaboration between the two countries.

Likewise, she spoke about the beginnings of the bilateral cooperation in Education, whic date back to 1987 with the signature of a memorandum between Cuban and Dutch universities. She reaffirmed the interest of Cuban universities on taking part in courses and trainings currently offered withinh the framework of the Agency for the Internationalization of Education (EP-NUFFIC). The Ambassador also qualified as very positive the colaboration between the Underwater Cultural Heritage Agency  (RCE) and the National Heritage Council of Cuba.

 

The Minister agreed on the importance of tightening the bilateral ties in these fields due to the many existing opportunities on both sides. She also stressed the importance of identifying common goals in the emancipation and empowering of women, which could be consider a new fied for bilateral and multilateral colaboration in the future. 

 

The Minister was accompanied by two of her advisors, Mr. Ron Reeder and the specialist on  Cuba in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands,  Mr. Alexander Van Deinse. The Ambassador was accompanied by the First Secretary, Mrs. Susellys Pérez Mesa and the Third Secretary, Mrs. Katia Aruca Chaple.
