The Minister of Energy and Mines of the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Alfredo López Valdés performs a working visit to Austria

The Minister of Energy and Mines (MINEM by its Spanish acronym) of the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Alfredo López Valdés is in Vienna, Austria to execute a working program focused on promoting opportunities for renewable energy investments, particularly biomass. The program includes visits and technical exchanges in the two main solid waste recycling plants in city of Vienna.

The Cuban delegation also consisting of the Deputy-minister Mr. Ruben Cid Carbonell visited Welt SpittelauVienna´s Energy Plant and Pfaffenau MA 48 Waste Processing Logistic Center.

Austria and, especially, the city of Vienna are known by their high technological development and environmental sustainability in solid waste processing through which energy is generated for the city´s electrical greed supply. Austria is globally recognized by its state-of-the-art renewable energy technology development, production, and export.

As part of the working program, the Cuban Minister had some meetings with  heads of various federal ministries and institutes in Austria as well as some international agencies based in Vienna, namely UNIDO and OFID.

The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández and the Economic and Commercial Counselor Ms Sara Smith de Castro.
