Minister of Health of Guyana acknowledges the work of Cuban collaborators

Georgetown, April 29, 2019. The Minister of Public Health of Guyana, Honorable Volda Lawrence, handed over diplomas of recognition to 14 collaborators who completed their three-year solidarity work in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The Minister highlighted the importance for her country of Cuba's medical collaboration.

The Cuban Ambassador, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the Chief of the Medical Brigade, Dra. Tatiana García Téllez, congratulated and wished the collaborators a happy return to the homeland and expressed the willingness of the Cuban authorities to continue cooperating with the Government and the people of Guyana in the field of public health.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, who participated in the ceremony, also expressed her gratitude and happiness to the cuban collaborators, Mrs. Colette Adams, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Shamdeo Persaud, President of the Medical College and Dr. Kay Shako, Director of Regional and Clinical Health Services, among other Guyanese authorities; On the Cuban side were Ana Violeta Castañeda Marrero, Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, and Mayra de la Caridad León Pérez, as well as members of the Cuban medical Brigade.
