Minister of Health of Liberia receives Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy.

Monrovia, February 27, 2020 - The Minister of Health of Liberia, Dr. Wilhemina Jallah, received at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health of the African country the Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera in a courtesy visit.

During the meeting, the head of the Cuban diplomatic mission conveyed to the Liberian minister greetings on behalf of her Cuban counterpart, the interest of the Antillean government to strengthen bilateral relations in the sector and ratified the willingness of the Caribbean government to contribute to the recovery process of the health sector in Liberia. 

The Cuban diplomat also updated on the most recent measures adopted by the Trump administration, their extraterritorial nature, the impact they have on the Cuban people, on third countries and specifically on the health sector. 

For her part, Minister Jallah praised Cuba's important contribution to the education and training of young Liberians in the health sector, thanked the Caribbean nation for its solidarity in sending a Medical Brigade to Liberia to fight the Ebola virus, recognized the capacity, professionalism and humanistic character of Cuban doctors, and expressed her government's willingness to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation in this area.
