Kingston, Jamaica, July 8, 2022. Yesterday morning, the Honorable Marlene Malahoo Forte, QC, MP, Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, received the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, at the Prime Minister's Offices.
The Minister expressed to the diplomat her admiration for Cuba and her gratitude for the cooperation that our country has provided Jamaica for decades in areas such as health and education. For her part, the Ambassador thanked the also legislator for her historical support for Cuba and for her presentation in 2018 of a motion condemning the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against the Greater Antilles, in the Jamaican parliament.
Likewise, the parties discussed the legislative agenda of both countries. In this sense, the Ambassador explained about the letter of the new Cuban Magna Carta approved in 2019 and the process that is being developed in Cuba for the elaboration, revision and approval of the Family Code.
