Minister Maynard meets with Ambassador of Cuba to Saint Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre, February 14, 2023- The Honourable Minister Konris Maynard, in charge of the portfolios of Public Infrastructure and Utilities, Transport, Information, Communication and Technology and Post, met this morning with the ambassador of Cuba to Saint Kitts and Nevis, David Rivero Pérez, on a work visit.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted the good state of the historical links that unite their countries and the willingness to continue strengthening them. In this sense, possible new avenues of Cuban cooperation were evaluated.
Minister Maynard thanked the Ambassador for the collaboration that Cuba offers in health and education and expressed to the position of support for Cuba and its government.
The Cuban diplomat also expressed his gratitude on behalf of his country for the historic support of Saint Kitts and Nevis in their fight against the blockade. The effects of the blockade and the great impact on the energy system of the island of Cuba, were also discussed during the meeting.
Konris Maynard also serves as deputy leader of the Labour Party, a political force whose leaders have maintained close ties with Cuba.
