Below is the full text of the approved Declaration:
Declaration of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba
The deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba express our indignation at the genocide that is perpetuated against the Palestinian people, which highlights the failure of diplomacy and the current international order to prevent such acts of barbarism in full 21st century.
We condemn the murder of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, of which more than 70% are children and women, as a result of the indiscriminate bombings carried out by Israel since last October 7. The current situation is a consequence of 75 years of Israeli practices of illegal occupation and colonization, in flagrant violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in their own territory.
We strongly repudiate the attacks on hospitals, schools, refugee camps, United Nations centers, mosques, among other civil infrastructures; as well as the deprivation of water, food, electricity, fuel, the blocking of humanitarian aid to the Gazan population and the murder of dozens of media professionals. All of these actions constitute serious violations of International Humanitarian Law, International Law, and war crimes and crimes against humanity.
We denounce in the strongest terms the responsibility and complicity of the United States Government with this genocide, by obstructing the action of the Security Council through the undemocratic and obsolete power of veto to protect the excesses of the government of Israel. The impunity with which Israel has historically acted can only be explained by its confidence that there will be no consequences due to the support of the United States Government.
On behalf of this people that we represent, we urgently call for an immediate ceasefire and the start of negotiations between the parties.
We reiterate the need for a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on the creation of two States, which allows the Palestinian people the right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign State, based on the pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
