Monrovia, March 11, 2022. - Cuban Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera had a pleasant and pleasant exchange with Mr. Mulbah K. Morlu, National Chairman of the current ruling Coalition in Liberia: Coalition for Democratic Change.
The party leader expressed his admiration for the capacity Cuba has to achieve relevant results in the areas of education and health. At the same time, he extended his wishes for the strengthening of relations between the two countries. He also thanked and highlighted the presence of health personnel who participated in Liberian lands in the fight against the Ebola epidemic, which broke out in October 2014.
For her part, the Cuban diplomat conveyed the willingness of the Communist Party of Cuba to expand and strengthen ties with other counterpart organizations in the world, on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
The Coalition for Democratic Change, constitutes an alliance that was formed in January 2017 to participate in the general elections of that year. It is composed of the Congress for Democratic Change, the National Patriotic Party and the Liberian People's Democratic Party. Under the banner of this strategic alliance, George Weah, who was the former leader of the Congress for Democratic Change, was a presidential candidate. Weah became president in the second round of voting with 61.5% of the vote, while the Coalition won 21 of the 73 seats in the House of Representatives.
