National Rebellion Day ¨26th of July¨ commemorated in Canberra

Canberra, July 30, 2022- The National Rebellion Day was commemorated in Canberra at the Cuban embassy headquarters, an activity attended by members of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), friends in solidarity and representatives of the sisterly Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Addressing those present, Cuban Ambassador Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez recalled the patriotic deed of July 26th and the significance of this action for the historical development of the country and the subsequent triumph of the Cuban Revolution. He also mentioned how the Cuban people have managed to forge, in a hostile context of economic war and a blockade imposed by the U.S. government for more than six decades, unity around such cherished principles as the defence of sovereignty and independence.

Likewise, in the morning, a virtual seminar was held on the Facebook platform to celebrate this date of July 26, which was jointly organized by the Southern Cross Solidarity Brigade and ICAP. Ernesto Teuma, professor at the University of Havana, gave a presentation on the National Rebellion Day and the impact generated by the July 26 movement in the whole process of emancipation and construction of a fairer and more equitable society.
