During his visit to Nepal, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Cuba in that country, resident in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, participated in a meeting of solidarity with Cuba, organized by the International League of Socialist Youth (ILSY), a platform that brings together students and youth organizations affiliated to the parties and leftist forces of Nepal.
The event was chaired by ILSY President Subodh Serpali and its Secretary Madhab Panta. In their remarks, the youth leaders expressed the solidarity with the people of Cuba, particularly in the struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government and the exclusion of Cuba from the spurious list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. The participants also expressed their admiration for the Cuban Revolution, its leaders and the resilience of the Cuban people, capable of resisting more than six decades of imperial aggression by the United States.
The Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for the sincere expressions of support from the people and youth of Nepal for Cuba and the Revolution. He explained the impact of the blockade policy of the US government on the Cuban economy and society, in particular the permanence of Cuba on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism; at the same time he highlighted the social achievements of the Cuban Revolution and its international solidarity despite having been subjected to more than six decades of aggression. They also discussed the different actions to be carried out to continue strengthening relations between the youth of both countries.
