December 31st, 2018, Saint Lucia. The new Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Saint Lucia, Alejandro Simancas Marin presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor General, Sir Emmanuel Neville Cenac at his official residence, “Government House”.
In his speech, the Cuban diplomat expressed his commitment to continue deepening the base of cooperation, solidarity and friendship that has characterized the bilateral relations. He made special mention of the cooperation between both countries in the sectors of Health, education, Construction and Sports and he expressed his willingness to continue contributing to the development of Saint Lucia. He expressed profound appreciation for the support rendered by the Government of Saint Lucia for the call to put an end to the Blockade and he appreciated Saint Lucia’s role in the development of Cuba’s relations with CARICOM.
For his part, the Governor General, Sir Emmanuel Neville Cenac highlighted the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations this upcoming August 23rd, at the same time he highly recognized Cuba’s contribution to the development of his country throughout the years as much in the field of Medicine as in Agriculture, Engineering and Education. He emphasized his appreciation for the solidarity rendered by Cuba to Saint Lucia and to the Caribbean in general.
In his speech, he also expressed his desire that the age-old Economic Blockade against Cuba will soon a thing of the past, and he conveyed his best wishes to the President of the State and Ministerial Councils of the Republic of Cuba.
Previously, the Cuban Ambassador had presented style copies to the Permanent Secretary of the Department of External Affairs of Saint Lucia, Elma Gene Isaac, with whom he exchanged on the excellent state of bilateral relations and the working perspectives for the deepening and development of same.
