Dublin, Ireland, April 1st, 2022.-  The head of the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Ireland, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, presented yesterday to the president Michael D Higgins, the credential letters accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in this country.

During the solemn ceremony, carried out at the official residence of the President, in Irish Áras an Uachtaráin, Guanche Hernández higlighted the profound and historic ties of friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Ireland and the excellent bilateral relations between the two nations, examples of these were the visits by the heads of State, to Cuba and Ireland, in 2017 and 2019, respectively.  The Cuban diplomat praised, likewise, the support of the people and Government of Ireland to the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade which has been reinforced during the last years.

The history of the "Emerald Isle" as Ireland is known for its green and beautiful landscapes and the "Pearl of the Antilles", show the common formation of independence ideas of their peoples.
