Official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) develops intensive work program in Trinidad and Tobago.

Port of Spain, 29 October.- The official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Yamil Martinez Marrero, in charge of the Eastern Caribbean countries in this institution, culminated today an intense and fruitful three days working visit to Trinidad and Tobago, which among its main goals were to update the movement of solidarity with Cuba, political parties and labor movements with a comprehensive socio-economic situation on Cuba in its current political context and exchange on possible initiatives in support of Cuba for the next year.

Invited by the Association of Solidarity with Cuba "Friends of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago" Yamil developed a program that included meetings with the boards of directors of the forementioned association, the trade union movement of workers of Communications, the Joint Trade Union Movement and the leadership of the Party "Movement for Social Justice". In all these encounters Jamil stressed the importance of maintaining unity and activism in the struggle for the total elimination of US blockade against the island, which is still being implemented in full force and mentioned recent measures taken by the current US administration to prove it. The occasion was also propitius to call friends to the seventh regional meeting of solidarity with Cuba to be held in July 2016 in Dominican Republic.

The ICAP official had the opportunity to visit historical and cultural places of Trinidad and Tobago and learn at close hand about the activity carried out in this country by the brigade of Cuban health collaborators and participate with them in the act to pay tribute to Camilo Cienfuegos.

Yamil's visit forms part of the interest of both peoples and governments to increase and strengthen the historic ties of friendship between the two Caribbean countries.
