Ottawa, May 24, 2018- Matt DeCourcey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, met Thursday morning with H.E. Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, on Parliament Hill.
During the cordial meeting, ideas were exchanged relating to bilateral relations, the strong bond of friendship between Canada and Cuba, as well as the close economical and commercial ties in the fields of investment, cooperation and tourism industry.
According to Cuban Ambassador, Canada ranks among Cuba´s major trade and investor partners, and there is enormous potential to tap the mutually beneficial relations between the two countries, which could be expanded to prioritized areas for the development of our country.
Matt DeCourcey, MP, expressed his condolences over the tragic plane crash in Havana on May 18.
Mrs. Ioanna Sahas Martin, Director General of the Central America and Caribbean Division at Global Affairs Canada, and Ms. Samantha Nadler, Parliamentary Secretary Assistant, attended the meeting. Cuban Ambassador was accompanied by Cuban Mr. Giuvel Orozco Ortega, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Cuba.
