Nigeria, October 28th, 2022. Representatives of the Nigerian Movement in Solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in Abuja, paid tribute to Camilo Cienfuegos, the Lord of the Vanguard, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of his physical disappearance.
Comrade Abiodun Aremus, Coordinator of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and recently decorated with the Friendship Medal, a distinction awarded to unconditional friends of the Cuban people, highlighted the importance of remembering Camilo and keeping his legacy alive.
Camilo Cienfuegos was a man of the vanguard, loved by the Cuban people, for his heroism, example, simplicity, joviality and, above all, his fidelity to the Cuban Revolution and Fidel. In times like these, Camilo's example has to be alive.
“Men like Camilo Cienfuegos emerged from the people and lived for the people. Our only compensation for the loss of a comrade so close to us is to know that the people of Cuba produce men like him. Camilo lives and will live in the town”, Fidel told an entire town that mourned his loss, and that, from then on, remember him every year in a beautiful tradition that fills the coastal waters and rivers with flowers and affection.
“Camilo will continue to live in other men like him, he will continue to live in the men who are inspired by him. Because the only thing we can ask our people is that, every time the Homeland finds itself in a difficult situation, at a moment of danger, they remember Camilo, and every time our compatriots see that the road is long and difficult Remember Camilo, what he did, how he never lost faith in the most difficult moments and how he knew how to do great feats," Fidel emphasized.
