The Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, Héctor Igarza, participated in a conversation with friends of the solidarity movement and members of the Ottawa Cuba Connections and the Outaouais-Cuba Friendship Association.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat offered extensive information on the current situation of our country and talked about the upcoming elections for the 10th Legislature of the People's Power National Assembly, on March 26, which is a democratic exercise that proposes voters to vote for all. In addition, he gave an explanation on the Electoral Law and its transparency. Those present expressed their concerns, which were clarified by the Cuban representative.
Ambassador Héctor Igarza also denounced the continuous campaign of disinformation and manipulation of the Cuban reality, as well as the use of social media by the U.S. government and its political operators' agencies, in order to achieve internal destabilization in the midst of the upcoming national elections.
The diplomat thanked the friends therein present for their support and the countless expressions of solidarity toward the Cuban people, especially for the permanent demand for the lifting of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
