Havana, May 21, 2019.- The 18th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty of Trade of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) will be held today in this capital.
The threats to regional peace and security and the solidarity and defense of the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela will be among the main topics of the appointment of representatives of the countries that make up this mechanism of Latin American and Caribbean integration.
The Political Council of ALBA-TCP will also explore new opportunities for integration and reaffirm the commitment of unity, cooperation and solidarity among the member nations in the current situation, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported.
The Council is made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of each member country, and its objective is to advise the Presidential Council of this integrationist platform on strategic issues and present proposals for international policy issues.
Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Nicaragua, San Cristóbal and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Venezuela are part of the ALBA-TCP, which defends the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, adopted in the presidential summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in January 2014, in this capital.
The XVII Political Council of the ALBA-TCP took place in Managua, Nicaragua, in November 2018.
