Premier of Quebec on Official Visit to Cuba

Ottawa, September 9, 2016- Philippe Couillard, Premier of Quebec, will travel to Cuba on Monday, September 12, on an official visit. This is the first time a Premier from this major Canadian province pays a visit to the island.

Cuban authorities from a number of institutions will welcome The Honourable Philippe Couillard, who will stay in Cuba until September 14. He is scheduled to attend a Bilateral Business Forum along with over 60 Quebec businessmen.

Quebec Premier will be accompanied by The Honourable Ms. Christine St. Pierre, Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie who is on her second visit to Cuba. Ms. Christine St. Pierre attended the International Havana Trade Fair last year.

This visit takes place against the backdrop of the decision of Quebec authorities to rank bilateral relations with Cuba as a priority. In this regard, Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Padilla, visited Quebec last May.
