President of Cuba sends his condolences on the death of former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings

The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez sent his condolences to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after the death of the former President and close friend of the Cuban Revolution, Jerry John Rawlings.

The Cuban President expressed his deepest condolences to the people and government of Ghana, extending them to the relatives and friends of the first President of the Ghanaian Fourth Republic.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings visited Cuba on several occasions, being awarded in 1984 by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro with the "Playa Girón" Order. During his term in office, thousands of young Ghanaians studied in Cuba at different levels of education.

The Flt. Lt. (Ret) Jerry John Rawlings, passed away on 12 November at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where he was receiving medical treatment after a short illness. (Cubaminrex / Embacuba Ghana)
