Antananarivo, November 8.The President of the Republic of Madagascar, H.E. Mr. Hery Rajaonarimampianina, received today in a solemn audience, Ernesto Gómez Díaz, who presented his credentials as Ambassador of Cuba to this African country, at the Presidential Palace.
The Malagasy leader sent greetings to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and showed his solidarity for the damage that Hurricane Irma caused in Cuba, while recognizing the community of interests that both countries have in the defense of the environment and other issues of the international agenda.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for the support of Madagascar for the lifting of the blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 50 years and reiterated the solidarity of his country to the human damage that is causing the pandemic of plague that affects Madagascar and that has claimed the lives of dozens of people.
Both interlocutors agreed on the existing potential to develop bilateral cooperation in the areas of health, education, human resources training and agriculture. On the other hand, they expressed their confidence in moving forward in strengthening the friendly relations that have characterized the ties between the two countries.
