Georgetown, February 23, 2018. The Member of Parliament and President of the Progressive Women's Organization (WPO) of Guyana, Mrs. Indranie Chandarpal, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the Counselor Ana Violeta Castañeda Marrero at the Cheddi Jagan Research Center. In a cordial atmosphere, the historical relations between the two countries and the ties of respect and friendship that existed between Fidel Castro and Cheddi Jagan were remembered.
A valuable collection of documents and photographs, including those of Fidel's visit in 1973 to Guyana, are on display at the Center's headquarters. Ms. Indranie Chandarpal recalled the relations that her organization maintained with the Federation of Cuban Women over the years and expressed her admiration for the President of the FMC, Vilma Espín Guillois.
