St George, January 10th. The Prime Minister of Grenada, the Honorable Dickon Mitchell, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Ivette Martínez Leyva, in his office at the Ministerial Complex.
In a friendly meeting, Grenada’s leader welcomed the Cuban diplomat to the country and they reviewed the status of the cooperation instruments between both countries. They also exchanged projections for the celebration of the 45th anniversary of bilateral relations in April.
The Ambassador congratulated the Prime Minister on the Jubilee day that is taking place on the Island, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Grenada. The meeting was conducive to thanking the Grenada Government for its support for the Cuban resolution against the Blockade and the rejection of Cuba's permanence on unilateral lists such as that of countries allegedly supporting terrorism.
Currently, 40 Cuban collaborators work in Grenada under medical assistance and technical assistance contracts with the Cuban Ministry of Public Health and the Union of Caribbean Construction Companies respectively. Both governments maintain interest in extending collaboration to the areas of agriculture, food, education and biotechnology.
