(Doha, April 22, 2025) – Representing the Ministry of Health of the State of Qatar, a delegation composed of Mr. Hussein Al Isahaq, Executive Director of the Cuban Hospital, and Ms. Reem Abdulmalik, International Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Public Health, is participating in the 5th International Convention Cuba-Salud 2025, which is being held at the Havana Convention Center from April 21 to 25.
With the participation of more than 5,100 professionals, executives, and experts from 88 countries, the Cuba Salud 2025 Convention aims to achieve consensus on the main challenges of global health as a guarantee of access and equity in health. Within the framework of the event, the International Fair "Health for All" and the Second "Medical Tourism and Wellness" Fair are taking place. These spaces bring together companies from various countries with more than one hundred stands addressing different topics and medical specialties, as well as an exhibition on Cuban medical collaboration in other nations and a diverse selection of books.
Health cooperation between Cuba and Qatar began in February 1997, expanding with the arrival of hundreds of health professionals from the Caribbean island in January 2012 with the opening of the Cuban Hospital of Dukhan, and more recently with the inauguration of the Aisha bint Hamad al-Attiyah Hospital. One of the most significant chapters in this bilateral cooperation was the work carried out in Qatar between 2020 and 2021 by members of the Cuban "Henry Reeve" brigade during the most difficult moments of the COVID-19 epidemic.
