The PdA on the side of Cuba!
Resolution passed at the 5th Party Congress of the Party of Labour of Austria.
Since its foundation, the Party of Labour has stood firmly on the side of the Cuban people, the Communist Party of Cuba (Partido Comunista de Cuba, PCC) and the Republic of Cuba as a whole. It does this on the basis of proletarian internationalism, internationalist solidarity and anti-imperialism. It does this not only out of the deepest feeling of peoples' friendship, but also out of willingness to learn and respect. The lessons of the Cuban revolution and the maintenance of power by the proletariat must be studied and deepened. At the same time, the PdA is aware of the external limitations of the construction of socialism in Cuba - as a relatively small country surrounded by enemies and subject to a constant blockade, Cuba is in a constant defensive position that does not allow a priori for a peaceful and balanced construction of socialism and communism.
For this reason, the advantages of a society based on a planned economy, which is making progress against all odds, should be emphasised all the more: In the state of the productive forces, in women's liberation, in science, in ecology and in the social fabric of the Cuban people, which knows no exclusion or inequality.
Even in the global Corona crisis, Cuba has shown that a system based on socialist principles is superior. With the provision of a large number of Cuban vaccines, scientific knowledge and, last but not least, many doctors who rendered their service to humanity abroad at the height of the crisis, Cuba has once again demonstrated that socialism focuses on human beings and their preservation, regardless of their system affiliation.
While Cuba has made enormous progress in fighting the pandemic inside and outside the country, the counterrevolution was already poised to undo this progress and restore the hated capitalist system. In the past year, US-hired saboteurs and marauders have been organising planned anti-communist, counter-revolutionary and anti-social activities in Cuba. Under the guidance of US imperialism, they tried to spread disinformation, insecurity and discontent among the Cuban people - with propaganda support from the EU and other imperialist countries. However, the people, together with the Communist Party of Cuba, knew how to resist these acts of sabotage; the propaganda of the warmongers, and this must be emphasised, did not find fertile ground on the island and especially in the consciousness of the people. The overwhelming majority of the Cuban people stand behind their country and their party and defend with all their strength their hard-won self-determination.
The Party of Labour of Austria stands in solidarity with socialist Cuba. Cuba stands for a world without exploitation and oppression of the working people, for a world of equal exchange between peoples, for a world of social and scientific progress without the constraints of profitability and profit maximisation. The PdA stands, as before, for the Cuban revolution, which made these advances possible. The PdA continues the bilateral relations that have existed since its foundation with the representatives of the Republic of Cuba legitimised by the Cuban people. Through the official organ of the PdA, the Zeitung der Arbeit, the achievements of socialism in Cuba are to be disseminated as far as possible in Austrian and German-speaking countries. Last but not least, the PdA strives for the seizure of power by the proletariat living in Austria and the building of socialism and communism on Austrian soil, in order to be able to be a reliable ally of socialist Cuba and a socialist world in every aspect.
