On the morning of 21 February, the second container of medicines and medical supplies sent by the end of 2023 was received with great emotion at the Juan Manuel Márquez Teaching Paediatric Hospital in Cuba.
This gesture of solidarity has deeply touched patients, doctors and the Cuban people in general. The medical aid from friends of solidarity in Cyprus is an act of generosity and selflessness, which the Cuban people are grateful for at a particularly difficult time for the Cuban economy and in particular the health sector, due to the negative effects of the unilateral and genocidal blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba for more than 60 years.
This second valuable cargo, which includes medicines and valuable medical equipment, will be of invaluable help in the treatment and care of the young patients, whose lives depend on adequate medical attention and resources, reaffirming the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in the fight for the health and wellbeing of all.
The management of the Juan Manuel Marquez Paediatric Teaching Hospital, patients, doctors and the Cuban people in general have expressed their gratitude to our friends in Cyprus for their noble gesture of solidarity. This example of cooperation is a clear demonstration of the close relationship between two islands, which despite the geographical distance share an affectionate closeness between their peoples (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
