Nairobi, June 3, 2024- The second Global Meeting of National Focal Points of the Fifth Montevideo Programme for the Development and Periodic Review of Environmental Law (the Montevideo Programme V), is taking place in Kenya, from 3 to 5 June, 2024.
Since 2019, Member States have designated national focal points for exchanging information and building capacities to collaborate with and guide UNEP in strengthening the Montevideo Environmental Law Programme, as well as for monitoring and evaluating its implementation.
The meeting will be held back-to-back with a global training on the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction, scheduled for Thursday, 6 June 2024.
At this event, Cuba is being represented by the Legal Director of the Ministry of Science Technology and Environment (CITMA), Yuraiky Seoane Puig, as well as the Cuban permanent representation to UNEP.
