The second group of young people from Saint Kitts and Nevis receives scholarships from Cuba this year.

Basseterre, June 28, 2024. On Thursday afternoon the ceremony of awarding undergraduate scholarships for five local young people, in the careers of Architecture, Medicine and Health Technology, was held at the headquarters of the Embassy of Cuba,

In addition to the Cuban diplomatic staff, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Lisa Pistana, the president of the Association of Graduates in Cuba, Hollis Prentice, Dr Erick Brown, an Engineer who graduated in Cuba, and relatives of the students were present at the event.

Ambassador David Rivero in his words of congratulations to the students, urged them to make the most of the opportunity offered to them to become good professionals, who in a few years will be able to contribute to the development of their nation.

The Permanent Secretary, for her part, praised the possibility that these young people have in their hands and urged them not to stop overcoming any obstacles they may encounter along the way.

Words of encouragement, advice and experience gained during his years of study in Cuba, were shared by Hollis Prentice, graduate of Economics from the University of Cienfuegos and Dr. Brown of Agricultural Engineering in Pinar del Río.

With the signing of the code of ethics, each student sealed his and her commitment to the discipline, responsibility and decorum that must characterise each university student.

A toast to future successes and family photos closed the ceremony.

In January of this year, a similar event was held with four doctors who were also awarded scholarships for the study of medical specialties, amounting to nine students in total entering the 2024-25 school year.
