Ottawa, June 4 .- During the 1st and 2nd of June, the Second Round of Migration Talks between Cuba and Canada took place in a friendly atmosphere of mutual respect, in accordance with the good state of bilateral relations.
Both delegations exchanged information on the immigration regulations in force in their respective countries, as well as on the flow of travelers between Cuba and Canada. In this regard, they reaffirmed the willingness and commitment of their governments to cooperate in order to ensure a regular, orderly and secure flow of migrants.
They also agreed to continue the negotiations under way with a view to the possible signing in the future of an Agreement on migration matters.
On the Cuban side, the talks were presided over by Ernesto Soberón Guzman, director of Consular Affairs and Foreign Residents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by the Ambassador to Canada, Julio Garmendía Peña and other diplomatic officials, while by the Canadian side the delegation was headed by Mr. Jacques Cloutier, vice president of the Border Services Agency.
