Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States special invitee to the Caribbean Business Fair.

Port of Spain, June 26th – Dr. June Soomer, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), will visit Cuba as a special invitee to the Cuba-Caribbean Business Fair, to be celebrated between the days 28th and 29thof July of the present year, in the Hero City of Santiago de Cuba. 

The event will provide the Caribbean businesses with a space to hold bilateral meetings with the aim of strengthening and diversifying trade relations and cooperation for the benefit of development and greater integration of Caribbean economies. 

The Cuba-Caribbean Business Fair, is materialized by the joint efforts of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, and has among its objectives, become a facilitator of institutional management. In the same way, the Fair pursues the purpose of achieving exportable funds, products that substitute imports and continue developing the territory of the eastern provinces of Cuba.

It is expected that the Secretary General will participate in the official launch of the 16th ExpoCaribe in 2019, after 11 years of interruption, an event that will count with the participation of the member states of the Association of Caribbean States, with the purpose of making a Forum to promote trade, investment and the exchange of knowledge among all entrepreneurs in the Greater Caribbean.

In an interview with the Cuban Ambassador at the ACS headquarters before her departure, Dr. Soomer signified the importance of participating in the event and the fact of visiting the historic city of Santiago de Cuba.

Also, the Secretary General will complete a program of meetings with senior officials of the government in the province and will visit places of historical interest, among other activities to develop during her visit to the Hero City of the largest of the Antilles.
