Secretary General of the Danish United Nations Association with the Ambassador of Cuba in Denmark

The Secretary General of the Danish United Nations Association, Torleif Jonasson, received today a courtesy visit of the Ambassador of Cuba in Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas. During the meeting both discussed, among other topics, the impact of the US blockade against Cuba and the significant damages it has caused to the Cuban people for almost six decades. Jonasson expressed his rejection of the blockade and highlighted the overwhelming support of the United Nations Member States to the resolution against the blockade, as an important message from the international community to achieve the lifting of that unfair policy.

The Cuban diplomat handed him the Cuba’s Report 2018 "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”. In this context, she emphasized the continued policy of hostility and persecution to which Cuban financial institutions are subject as a result of the blockade. Likewise, she highlighted the growing opposition to the blockade both in the United States and in other parts of the world.
