Namibia, February 28th, 2022- Cecilia Muzile, general secretary of the Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, demanded the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba in a meeting with Sidenio Acosta, Cuban ambassador to that African nation.
For his part, the diplomatic representative of the Island updated on the epidemiological situation in Cuba and the advances in the control of the Covid-19 pandemic, based on the use of the Cuban vaccines Abdala, Soberna 02 and Soberna Plus. He also explained the effects on the national economy caused by the tightening of the blockade..
Muzile reiterated the solidarity of Namibia towards Cuba. In this sense, she highlighted her government's support for the resolutions condemning the blockade in the United Nations and the African Union.
Ambassador Acosta thanked Namibia for its historical position. He recalled the speeches by President Hage Geingob, both at the national level and in multilateral forums, where the African leader has called for an end to the aggression against Cuba.
Cecilia Muzile is a survivor of the Cassinga Massacre. Together with other young people, she was part of the first group of Namibian students received in Cuban schools on the Isle of Youth.
