Secretary of the Indian Foreign Ministry celebrated 63rd anniversary of the establishment of relations with Cuba.

The Cuban Ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas Marin, held a meeting with Dammu Ravi, Secretary for Economic Relations of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. In the exchange, they highlighted the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and their development over the years, on the basis of friendship, respect, dialogue and cooperation. They also highlighted the significance of the historic moment and the willingness of both governments to continue deepening bilateral ties in different areas of common interest. 
On the occasion of this important moment and as a token of recognition, the Cuban diplomat presented the Secretary of the Indian Foreign Ministry with a painting that reflects the historical and photographic memory of bilateral ties. 
Diplomatic relations between Cuba and India were established on January 12, 1960, and had as a foundational moment the visit of the Heroic Guerrilla, Ernesto Che Guevara to New Delhi in June 1959, and the meeting between the historic leaders of both countries Fidel Castro and Jawaharlal Nehru in New York in October of the same year.
