Solidarity with Cuba from the Australian capital

Canberra, April 19th, 2021. - On Saturday, April 17th , a solidarity event with Cuba was held in the Australian capital, as part of the efforts of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Association (ACFS) to continue supporting the Cuban people in the midst of the pandemic and the unprecedented escalation of the blockade policy against the island by the United States government.

Within the framework of the event, different cultural shows were presented, among which a casino wheel performed by a local dance workshop stood out, as well as the interpretation of the universally famous Cuban song "La Guantanamera" by the members of the Cuban diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador of Cuba, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, thanked the sustained support of the solidarity movement in Australia and announced that next June Cuba would once again present the resolution for the ending of the illegal and genocidal blockade at the United Nations General Assembly. This will be the occasion in which once again, the vast majority of the international community will vote in favor of lifting this unjust policy of aggression.

During the activity, funds were raised for the paediatric hospital of Las Tunas province, as part of a solidarity project developed by the ACFS in Canberra.
