The role of culture as a form of resistance was the title of the panel that brought together representatives of several countries, gathered around solidarity with Cuba, Palestine, and the Saharawi and Swazi people.
Orbit Jazz Club, in the city of Johannesburg, hosted a diverse audience under the call of the organization Dance Across Borders and with the support of BDS (BOYCOTT, DIVESTMENT AND SANCTIONS AGAINST ISRAEL IN SOUTH AFRICA), FOCUS (Friends of Cuba Society), among others.
As part of the panelists, Pedro Arteaga, Trade and Economic Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, spoke about the relevance of international solidarity for the Cuban Revolution. He recalled the importance of the support of the brotherly peoples around the world for the return of the Five to Cuba, and especially thanked the South African people for being always on the side of the causes of the Island.
The value of preserving original cultural values in the face of neoliberal globalization prevailed during the panel discussion, in which voices in favor of the Palestinian and Saharawi also were raised.
Attendees enjoyed cultural expressions that included dance, music, literature and comedy.
