Solidarity with Cuba strengthens in Austria.

Vienna, November 20, 2023. This weekend, the Cuban Embassy in Austria held a meeting with members of the Board of Directors of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) and its "kuratorium".

During the activity, the attendees celebrated the country's recent achievements such as the successful Summit of the Group of 77 and China, the re-election as a member of the Human Rights Council, the almost unanimous support for the United Nations General Assembly resolution against the blockade, the presentation of the National Report to the Fourth Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council and the election to the Executive Board of UNESCO.

Ambassador Pablo Berti Oliva thanked the members of the Association for their permanent support to the country and recalled that some of its members recently visited Cuba and fulfilled an intense agenda. He also thanked the Friendship Association for its support against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba, which this month materialized, among other things, in a demonstration in front of the United Nations headquarters in Vienna on November 2, 2023, and in the participation in the International Tribunal against the Blockade held last week at the headquarters of the European Parliament.

The reactivation of the work of the "Kuratorium", an advisory council of the Association's Board of Directors, made up of personalities from Austria's current and past political life, as well as other Austrian personalities, all united by a common cause: support for Cuba, is part of the actions to foster solidarity towards the Cuban people in Austrian society.

The members of the ÖKG, which will soon hold its General Assembly, ratified their willingness to continue supporting Cuba at all times and under all circumstances.
