South Africa celebrates today the National Womens Day

Pretoria, August 09, 2023.- Today South Africa celebrates National Women's Day, in tribute to the 1956 Great Women's March, in which thousands of women marched to Union Buildings to protest against legislation aimed at tightening the apartheid government's control over black women's movements in urban areas.

"This is a day that represents the courage and resistance that South African women have shown throughout history in the defense of their rights," wrote the Cuban Ambassador in Pretoria, Enrique Orta Gonzalez, via the social network Twitter.
