South African Communist Party reiterates solidarity with Cuban Revolution

Pretoria, 20 January 2025 - The South African Communist Party (SACP) has issued a strong statement of solidarity with Cuba, its people and its Revolution, following the announcement on 14 January by the US administration of Joe Biden to remove Cuba from the arbitrary and unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The statement welcomes the US government's decision, arguing that "Cuba should never have been on that list". However, it also calls for an end to all unilateral sanctions against the Caribbean nation, in particular the economic, commercial and financial blockade, and for the United States to withdraw from the illegally occupied territory of Guantanamo Bay.
