South Asia Correspondents Club welcomes the Cuban Ambassador to India.

The South Asia Correspondents Club welcomed the Cuban Ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas, in an interactive meeting with representatives of different media outlets in this country. In his welcoming remarks, Venkat Narayan, President of the institution, highlighted that Cuba is a country admired in India for its historical relations, the island's social achievements and its capacity for resistance. The Cuban Ambassador exchanged extensively highlighting the history of bilateral ties and the fundamental contribution in them of Ernesto Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, whose first visit to India, we will commemorate its 50th anniversary on September 11.

He thanked India's support for the demand for the lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States on the island, which is expressed every year in the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. He commented on the positive exchange of high-level visits and bilateral political dialogue, as well as business opportunities and invited Indian companies to attend the next edition of the Havana Fair. Likewise, he highlighted the upcoming celebration in Havana of the Summit of the Group of 77 and China and reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the countries of the south. Based on the interests of the correspondents present, the Ambassador also referred to the importance that Cuba attaches to cooperation and economic relations with India, the importance of cultural exchange and tourism.
