Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia Holds Meeting with Cuban Ambassador.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Namibia, Peter Katjavivi, visited in his residence the Cuban Ambassador Giraldo Mazola who informed him of the results of the first session in the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of the People's Power. The Cuban diplomat commented on the Constitutional Reform process and the creation of a temporary commission, headed by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, responsible for preparing and presenting the draft Constitution of the Republic.

The Ambassador also referred to the minute of silence at the beginning of the sessions for the victims of the plane crash last May in Havana that killed 112 people.

Katjavivi reiterated his condolences to his colleague Esteban Lazo, the members of the ANPP and the relatives of the deceased in such an unfortunate accident.

Ambassador Mazola in turn congratulated him for being elected as a member of the SWAPO Secretariat in charge of international relations and informed him of the creation of the friendship group with Namibia.
