The U.S. Secretary of State's statements on the presence of a Chinese espionage base in Cuba are a fabrication.
Cuba's position on this issue is clear and categorical. These statements are totally unsubstantiated.
Their purpose is to serve as a pretext to maintain the economic blockade against Cuba and the measures of maximum pressure that have reinforced it in recent years, and which are the object of growing international rejection and also within the United States, including the demand to remove Cuba from the arbitrary list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
Cuba is not a threat to the United States, nor to any other country. The United States implements a policy that threatens and punishes the Cuban population as a whole, on a daily basis. The United States has imposed and holds dozens of military bases in our region, and also keeps, against the will of the Cuban people, a military base in the territory it illegally occupies in the province of Guantanamo.
We are facing a new disinformation operation, like many others that have been generated in the United States in its long history of hostility against our country.
