Students from the Leiden Medical Center visit the Cuban Embassy

The Hague, May 31, 2024. A new group of students from the Leiden University Medical Center has started the elective course on the Cuban Health System.

The visit to the Cuban Embassy, ​​where they received a brief conference on this topic, was one of the first activities of the course.  It will also include a visit to Cuba, where they will be able to exchange with doctors, nurses and patients in family doctor houses and polyclinics, taking the experiences of the prevention approach of the Cuban model.

The students showed great interest during their exchange at the Embassy, ​​particularly about the effects that the United States blockade imposes on the health sector in Cuba.
