They pay tribute in San Cristóbal and Nieves to the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí.
Basseterre, January 27, 2023: The diplomatic headquarters of the Republic of Cuba in the Federation of San Cristóbal y Nieves hosted this afternoon, nationals and local friends to honour its national hero, José Martí, for the 170th anniversary of his birth.
The placement of a wreath in his honour, commenced an emotional act that was attended by the members of the Cuban State Mission in this Federation, as well as members of the Friendship Associations, Cuba graduates and resident Cubans.
Ambassador David Rivero, in his main speech, highlighted the universal character of this human being and his example and guide both for all Cubans, as well as for other peoples of the world.
Telca Wallace, representing the Friendship Association, gave a brief account of the intense and productive life of the Apostle of the Independence of Cuba. Other participants addressed their anti-imperialist, anti-annexationist and anti-racist ideas. There was also talk of love, commitment and loyalty to the Homeland.
"Joining will continue to be the word of order," said the Head of the Diplomatic Mission. The unity of our Latin American and Caribbean peoples, so proclaimed by José Martí, will continue to be indispensable in the face of the incessant attempt of the "giant of the seven leagues" to fall, "with more force, on our lands of our America."
