Toronto, January 10th, 2017.- The 58th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated with jubileelast Saturday evening at the headquarters of "Casa Maiz", in this city. This event was organized by the associations Canadian –Cuban Friendship Association - Toronto, Friends of Cuba Against U.S Blockade, Casa Maiz and the Latin American and Caribbean Solidarity Network (LACSN).
Tania López Larroque, Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, in her remarks referred to the main events that took place in Cuba on 2016 and the harder pain for the Cuban people: the good bye to our Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro. The Cuban diplomat stressed the important achievements in Cuban foreign policy, she highlighted the unjust economic, commercial and financial Blockade is still alive and she mentioned Cuba faced the impact of the Hurricane Mathew, but the international solidarity immediately joined to support the Cuban government in recovering from the damages caused in Baracoa.
Friendly organizations expressed their admiration for the existence and achievements of the Cuban Revolution and they highlighted Fidel's historical significance for Cuba and the rest of the hemisphere. Moreover, they demandedanend to the long-standing Blockade against Cuba for over 50 years and they called for the unity of the Latin-Americans in order to defend independence and sovereignty of our continent.
The activity was attended by other officials of the Cuban Consulate in Toronto.
