Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, 20 January 2017. At the invitation of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO), the Cuban Ambassador in India Oscar Martinez Cordoves participated in its National Conference, held in the capital of the state of Kerala, with the presence of the Executive Secretary Of the World Council for Peace, the Greek Iraklis Tsavdaridis; The Secretary-General of the Bangladesh Peace Council, M. A. Quassem; The President of the OSPA, the Egyptian Dr. Helmy Al Hadidi; The Ambassador of Palestine, accredited in India; The Vice President of the India-Viet Nam Friendship Association, Ha Minh Huey; The President of the Movement for Peace of the Czech Republic, Milan Krajca; A representative of the South African Initiative for Peace, Molly Dhlamini, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Peace and Solidarity Council of Sri Lanka, JA Wilfred Jayasinghe, the Secretary-General of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council, ravindra Adhikary, others.
The event was preceded by the opening of a stripe commemorating one of its presidents Romesh Chandra. The inauguration of the National Conference was attended by the head of the Government of Kerala (Chief Minister), Pinarayi Vijayan, who gave a few words, recognizing the role of solidarity of the Indian organization, mentioning, among others, Cuba in its fight against Blockade and aggression by US governments for more than half a century.
Members of the Indian parliament and general and national secretaries respectively of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India, Sitaram Yetchury and D. Raja also attended. The conference read and approved a resolution dedicated to our Commander-in-Chief, in the presence of the Head of Government of Kerala, as well as giving a minute of silence to his memory.
There was a wide discussion on the Declaration of Trivandrum (capital of Kerala), which was approved, along with other resolutions of solidarity with the regions of Latin America and the Caribbean, in which there are ample references on Cuba, Venezuela, etc among others.
Finally the new Executive of the Council of AIPSO was chosen where there was ratification of the positions.
In representation of Cuba, the Cuban Ambassador sent a message on behalf of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples (MOVPAZ) in which I expressed my gratitude for the signs of solidarity towards our country in these years, in particular for the numerous expressions of affection To Fidel in this state as a result of his physical disappearance; As well as the conviction of continuing to build socialism under the legacy of Fidel.
He also took the opportunity to refer to the CELAC Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, reading its declarative part, with the sense that the struggle for peace goes beyond avoiding war, but defending other principles (Embacuba-India).
