Port of Spain, August 9.- With the presence of the Trinidadian Ministers of Education and State in the Ministry of Education, Anthony Garcia and Francis Lovell, respectively, took place today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education the official ceremony of granting of medical scholarships offered by the Government of Cuba to young Trinidadians as part of the Cuba-CARICOM agreements. On this occasion, three young people benefited from this cooperation program.
The Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Cuba, Alex González García, took the opportunity to remember the figure of the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, who in addition to being one of the intellectual authors of the creation of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) was a continuous promoter and educator regarding the need to exercise international solidarity with the needy peoples. The occasion was propitious to guarantee the political will of Cuba in honor and to maintain its commitments with the Caribbean brothers, at a time when the United States intensifies its Blockade against the island.
The Trinidadian ministers thanked Cuba for its permanent support for the development of the country´s education system and highlighted the quality of Cuban medicine and its professionals. Both condemn their young nationals to be ambassadors of their country in the sister Cuban nation and once graduated, give back this opportunity that is made available for them in the development of their respective communities with the knowledge acquired.
